Chapter 7.5-Resurrection

In A Secret Location

Allison and Henry watched their own funerals take place in front of them. It wasn't an easy decision to fake their deaths but it was necessary. They had to make sure that the company would be able to function in case of an emergency. But now that it had been tested with the incident, they couldn't come back - those higher up in the company would be making sure of that.

"What now?" asked Henry. Both of them were facing a council, shrouded in shadow, of their superiors - a fearsome group of powerful people. They were the ones in charge; they called the shots.
"You two are needed in another facility in Paris. A large number of individuals have been spotted there demonstrating unique abilities." said a deep voice belonging to one of the council.
"What's going to happen to the company here?" said Allison softly, too intimidated by the people in front of her. There was a slight pause before one of them spoke.
"We are eliminating it from our organisation."
"You can't do that!" cried Henry.
"We have every right to." The voice was commanding, the decision final and it struck Henry and Allison like a slap to the face.
"If you do this - shut the company down - then we have to be there till the end."
"You want to stay and risk losing your position in the company? Why?” a piercing female voice asked them with a hint of curiosity.
"For the same reason we decided to join. The other agents need us. Win, Dylan, Tommy, Aida-"
"Aida." the voice cut in, "Just how much do you know about her?"
"What do you mean?" Henry narrowed his eyes, trying to decipher the meaning behind the woman's words.
"Where do you think she's been disappearing to? Have you ever stopped to think that maybe she has betrayed us all?"
"Don't you see?" continued Allison "That's why we need to be there! We have to help them, prevent them from joining the wrong side or from becoming a victim themselves. Look what happened to Ayman! We couldn't save him, but we can save those agents now!"
"It's a dangerous place out there." said Henry, backing her up. "There are people like Luisa and Thinzar, Zahav, Bovey, Fong and Thandar roaming the streets, targeting people like us. And we have to protect the ones that don't know it like Janette and Khiem."
The council looked back and forth at one another, not expecting this sudden outburst. Then all eyes turned to duo in question with what seemed to be a trace of respect. "Very well. What is your final decision?"
"I'm afraid we're staying right here."

At the company

Win, Tommy, Dylan and Aida were gathered together in the lobby, waiting. It was a rare occasion where the place was silent and no assignments were taking place.
"Does anyone know why we're all here?" asked Aida.
Tommy shrugged. "Nope."
"Not a clue." chimed in Win.
“I think I hear someone coming!" said Dylan who was listening by the door. The sound of footsteps could be heard getting closer, stopping at the foot of the door. The others waited in anticipation. Slowly, the handle turned and doors flew open dramatically. No one expected to see what they were seeing at that very moment.

Allison took in everyone's shocked expressions, looked to Henry and smiled. "Feels good to be back doesn't it?"
